Owzat!

Today I thought I'd try trading on the cricket. Australia were playing South Africa and at one point, were odds on favourites. When I looked at the odds, they had drifted considerably. I watched the odds fluctuate and decided to back Australia for £5 at quite high odds of 15.0 and managed to lay them off at 10.5 . I also layed South Africa for £10 @ 1.07 and then backed them at 1.08.

This added £2.07 to my betfair account. The screenshot below is from my Australian wallet.

South Africa won. Glad I greened up.

This evening, I watched the Hamburg v Bayern Munich game and traded the over/under 2.5, 3.5 and 4.5 markets. I used stakes of £20, £30 and £50. As I was using large stakes, I stayed in the markets for as little time as possible. There was a heart-stopping moment, when seconds after getting a £50 bet matched, one of the strikers hit the post.

Brian Clough once said "It only takes a second to score a goal", unfortunately on betfair it takes at least 5 seconds to place a bet whilst "in play". Nail biting stuff!

There was only 1 goal in the game and I ended up winning £4.42 on the football (Hmm 4-4-2!). Together with a 9p win on the dogs, this brought my total to £4.51.

This screenshot is from my main betfair wallet.

So in total, I added a grand total of £6.58 to my betfair account. This was an increase of 12.59%.

This has boosted my total to £58.83. My next 3% target is £1.76.

Brilliant day at the boat race

Well not exactly the boat race, but it was Cambridge v Oxford at the football tonight. Earlier in the day, I'd scalped a few horse races and even had a go on the dogs too. this gave me a profit of 66p. Nice! I'd picked the Cambridge v Oxford game simply because it was live on setanta ( I haven't got sky sports). I traded both the 2.5 goals and 3.5 goals markets.

As you can see from my betfair P&L below, I ended up winning a grand total of £5.43.

This was far higher than my 3% target of £1.40. It was an increase of 11.6%

I felt more confident tonight too. I think that actually watching the game gave me an idea of how well both teams were playing. I usually trade football matches "blind" and trust to luck a bit, trying to guess how the game is progressing by watching the prices fluctuate.

This confidence helped me in choosing the bets to place. For example, in the second half, it was still 1-0. I thought the chances of more than 3 goals being scored were low, so I layed the over 3.5 goals. I held on for a good 5 - 10 minutes, then finally hedged for a profit of £1.91.

I reached a bit of a milestone too. I've broken the £50 pound barrier.

When I started this blog, I intended to trade on the horses. It seems that the under/over football market is giving me the most profit.

I'll concentrate mainly on these markets but still try and hone my skills on the horses and maybe the greyhounds.

My bank now stands at £52.25. Therefore, my next 3% target is £1.57.

Another successful night

I was supposed to be going out tonight but stayed in instead. Change of plans and all that. This gave me an opportunity to trade on tonight's football. One of the first games to kick off was Chelsea v Middlesbrough. I traded the under 2.5 goals and under 4.5 goals markets in that game.

Nothing exciting happened really. I made a profit of about 50p in the under 2.5 market. When Chelsea scored their first goal in the second half and the market went a bit jumpy, I grabbed another handful of ticks quite easily.

As you can see by my betfair P&L below, I made 89p from the under 2.5 goals and 55p from the under 4.5 goals markets, giving me a total of 1.44. This is a 3.17% increase.

My next target will be £1.40.

Another quickie

I had a busy day today. Working until gone 6 o'clock and things to do tonight didn't leave me a lot of trading time. I decided to trade just the 1 football match - Sunderland v Fulham. The reason I chose this match was simple - it kicked off earlier than the other 3 I was also looking at!

I tried another strategy too. I placed my back bet as normal for £30 @ 1.75, but instead of staggering my lay bets, I decided to hang on for 5 minutes and see what the hedged amount would be. After 5 minutes, I hit the hedge button. This layed me £31.44 @ 1.64. By the time the bet was submitted, the market had moved down another couple of ticks. This left me an uneven profit so I hedged again for 57p @ 1.64 to even it out. I was all green for £2.02. This came to £1.92 after my commission to Betfair. My betting bank increased by 4.42%.

I probably won't be trading tomorrow. I'm having a night at the pub, but when I next trade my target will be £1.36.

Quick profit

Like I said in my last post, I decided to trade the Burton Albion v Barrow match tonight. I'd no idea how good either of these teams were but the odds on under 2.5 goals suggested it could be a high scoring match. I wanted to be in and out pretty sharpish.

I placed my back bet for £30 @ 2.32 after kick off. Almost immediately the market moved down by 1 tick. I placed my 6 lay bets for £5, 2 ticks apart starting at 2.24. I hung on for 5 minutes then within 20 seconds I got 2 of my lay bets matched. The hedged amount figure on my BetTraderPro software showed a potential profit of £1.55. This was more than my 3% target so I cancelled my unmatched lay bets and hit the hedge button which layed me £21.55 @ 2.20 for a guaranteed profit of £1.55 before comission.

All within 7 minutes!

In the second half, Burton scored the first goal. After the market re-opened after suspension, I put in another back bet for £10 @ 1.76. Once this got matched, I put my £10 lay bet in @ 1.72. This got matched almost immediately. I was all green for £1.95 unders and £1.55 overs. I could have hedged immediately but hung on for about 4 minutes. By this time, the market had moved down even further to 1.56, so I hedged to equalise the profit at £1.80 (£1.71 net)

This was an increase of 4.09%

I picked the right time to equalise my profit, as Burton scored another goal minutes later. The game ended 2-1 to Burton.

The goals never came until the second half and I could have hung on for a lot bigger profit, but on the other hand an early goal would have hit hard.

My bank now stands at £43.46, so my target for tomorrow is £1.30.

All systems go again

I was working today, so I only traded on a couple of football matches in the under 2.5 goals market. No heroics today, not after yesterday's performance. I just made a nice and easy £1.45, which has increased my bank by 3.59%. I even managed to have a game of online snooker at the same time.

Here is my betfair P&L for today.

I've just had a look to see which matches are on tomorrow. Burton Albion v Barrow is on Setanta tomorrow night. My target is £1.25.

Rollercoaster

What a day! I started off trading a couple of horse races but only made 18p. Then the football came on. I traded the Aberdeen v Rangers game and within minutes I'd locked in a profit of £1.61.

This was over my £1.21 target for the day, so I was happy. Trading over for the day.

For some reason, I decided to trade the Man United v Spurs FA cup game. I put in quite a large back bet of £30, and put 3 £10 lay bets in at 2 tick intervals. Spurs scored an early goal before any got matched. The market shot up but I didn't panic. I used the last £10 in my account to back again at the higher price, hoping to scalp and reduce my loss. I managed to get it down to around £2 when United scored an equaliser. After the market settled, I backed again, hoping for a few quick ticks. As soon as my £10 back bet was matched, I put in a £10 lay bet 2 ticks lower. It never got matched. United scored a second - market closed!

I wanted to reduce my £11 loss so I looked at the under/over 3.5 and 4.5 goals markets. A few decent trades in these won me back £10.30. I was still up for the day from my earlier wins so I should have left it for another day.

Of course I didn't leave it. The game between Feyenoord v Willem II was starting soon. I soon made about £1.20 in the under 2.5 goals market. Easy!

I then had the brilliant idea of trading on the over 4.5 goals market. It was the second half and Willem II were 1-0 up. I wanted to lay over 4.5 goals but instead I backed it for £10 @ 17.5 ! I tried to lay it back at the same price but I had no chance. The odds were shooting up and I could only lay @ 55. A loss of £6.75. What an Idiot!

I jumped straight back on the under 2.5 goals market and managed to win £6.47 on that. I even backed £30 @ 1.03 with minutes to go to win another 90p. I just hoped that 2 goals weren't scored - not impossible but unlikely.

So after a rollercoaster ride I ended up winning the grand total of £0.00! Yes, a big fat zero!

I'm looking on the bright side, at least I didn't lose and my bank was protected. I also took some risks today but ended up unscathed.

My next 3% target is still £1.21.

Doubled my bank.

Today is a bit of a milestone. On the 7th of January, I put £20 in my betfair account. On the 23rd of January this has doubled to £40.30. I know this is only around £20 in 16 days, but I received my bank statement a couple of days ago, and my current account which has considerably more than £20 has earned 15p in interest in a month! If I had increased my betfair account by just 3% per day, I would have doubled it in 24 days - I did it in 16!

I did, however, have a bit of luck today. I traded on the under/over 2.5 goals market in a few football matches. In one of them, Ankaraspor v Konyaspor (Who???), I waited till kick off to place my back bet. After the game suspended at kick off and went into play, I looked at the odds offered to back and lay. There was quite a big spread between the two, from 2.74 to 3.30. I placed my back bet for £10 at 3.20. Surprisingly, this was matched within seconds and soon the market settled down around the 2.78 - 2.80 mark - 15 ticks lower! I clicked the hedge button on my BetTraderPro software, which layed me £11.51 @ 2.78, which was matched seconds later, guaranteeing me a profit of £1.51 before comission ( £1.43 net).

I'm sure this was a freak or something because I tried it on a few other games tonight, without the same success.

Altogether, my daily profit was £3.20, a increase of 8.63%. As my bank has reached the £40 mark, I have upped my stakes again to £4 , which is 10% of my bank. When trading on the football I might increase my stakes to £15, depending on liquidity.

Here is my betfair screenshot.

My next 3% target is £1.21.

Tiny loss.

I must be learning. I'm sure that everyone who trades on betfair has a losing day. I certainly have, but when you learn to take a small loss and don't try and chase losses, then in the long run these small losses will be insignificant. Today was a good example.

I traded a few horse races using small stakes. I've upped my stakes from £2.00 to £3.50 - around 10% of my bank. I'm definately becoming more confident in trading the horses and I'm not slow to take a small loss when the market goes against me. Anyway, I was 30p up on the horses.

I picked out 5 football matches to trade on the under/over 2.5 goals market. I use slightly bigger stakes on this - £10. After backing, I then stagger my lay bets, 2 ticks apart.

This method worked in 4 out of 5 matches, but an early goal in the Kilmarnock v Ayr game left me about £2 in the red. I managed to scalp a few ticks gere and there but the liquidity wasn't the best and the market was very jumpy, taking too long for my liking to gat matched.

I managed to get my loss down to £1.33 in that match and decided to leave it before I did my usual trick of backing just before a goal.

Even though I was £1.33 down in one game, the other games and my winnings from the horses meant I was only down by 13p. A loss of only 0.34%. I'm quite sure a few months ago, I would have tried chasing my loss and would have probably lost more.

Here is my betfair P&L.

Tomorrow is another day. My 3% target is £1.11

BetTraderPro in action

If you've read some of my earlier posts, you will know that I use a program called BetTraderPro to submit my bets to betfair. This amazing piece of software has loads of features e.g. one click bet submission, live updating prices, one click hedging button, ladder interface plus loads of demo and trading videos.

What's more, it's FREE to download. There are 2 interfaces you can use, grid and ladder.

The grid interface is free to use and looks like the normal betfair site. The main advantage over the betfair site is, it automatically refreshes the screen, you can submit bets quicker using less clicks, there are trading tools too e.g. a stop loss tool which automatically places a bet if the price goes against you.

The ladder interface displays the prices vertically so you can actually see them go up and down - ideal for spotting drifters or steamers. It also features one click bet submission so you can place your bets instantly. There is a fee to use the ladder but you can either choose to pay as you go, or pay monthly, quarterly or yearly.

To check out this software, clicking here will take you to the homepage, where you can download the software, learn about it and even watch some of the demo videos.

Below is my favourite video. It features Adam Todd, the man behind BetTraderPro, trading using the ladder interface. I'll warn you, some of the language is quite colourful but it's an entertaining, funny and informative video.

The software has been updated slightly since the video was made so when you download it, it will look slightly different.

Hope you enjoy it, I did.

Back to profit

Todays trading put me back in the right direction. I traded a couple of horse races and ended up in profit by 40p. I needed to make another 67p to achieve my 3% daily target.

If you've read some of my earlier posts, you'll know that I've been dabbling with the under/over 2.5 goals market. I picked out 5 games to trade on. As you can see by the betfair P&L screenshot below, I made a profit from 4 of them.

I only lost in the Valencia v Sevilla after a 7th minute goal. I placed my £10 back bet and staggered my £2 lay bets at 2 tick intervals. Only 1 of them got matched before the goal went in. After the market unsuspended and settled down, I equalised my loss to around £2.50. I then scalped the market, taking a couple of ticks here and there. The market fell more rapidly than I thought and soon my liability was down to 73p. I didn't try to scalp it any more because I was 90p up in the Espanyol v Barcalona match, which kicked off an hour later.

After yesterdays events, I didn't want to go for "one more trade" and lose it all so I shut down my bet trader software, turned off the laptop and watched TV for an hour or so.

In total, I made £1.41 profit, an increase of 3.93%.

My 3% target for tomorrow is £1.12.

From profit to loss

I'm quite annoyed with myself today. After giving blood this afternoon, I was hoping for some good fortune for my good deed. Call it karma if you like.

Maybe I did get some but I managed to throw it away!

I traded on a couple of horse races but ended up down £2.33. Not to worry, there were 3 football matches I picked to make up my loss.

Although they kicked off at different times, all 3 games were in play simultaneously and I was sitting happily after wiping out my loss and in profit by £1.10 if I left everything as it was.

All I had to do was nothing. I didn't!

I've got an uncanny knack of backing in the under 2.5 goals market about 30 seconds before a goal! As soon as I backed unders and the bet was matched, I put in my lay bet. About 10 or 20 seconds later - GOAL! This turned a 70p win to a 23p loss.

I was still all green for £2.31 in the Man U v Derby game. For some STUPID reason, I decided to trade on the under/over 3.5 goals market and the next goal market. I ended up losing £1.96 & 50p respectively.

I made back 16p on the greyhounds but ended up down £2.15, a loss of 5.66%.

My bank is down to £35.82. My 3% target for tomorrow is £1.07.

Lesson learned today. Doing nothing is better than throwing it all away.

Derby Day

Tonight was the Merseyside derby. This game provided an excellent market for trading - I could watch it live on TV and there was plenty of liquidity in the markets. I've been playing with the under/over 2.5 goals markets lately, so I decided to trade that. My strategy is to back the unders, lay it off and hedge for a small profit.

I backed unders for £10 @ 1.74 just before kick off as the prices went up slightly. After kick off they carried on up to 1.78 before settling down.

Instead of putting just one £10 lay bet in, I decided to split it into 5 seperate bets. I layed five £2 bets @ 1.71, 1.68, 1.65, 1.62 and 1.60. I then greened up for a profit of 57p, which was around half of my daily target.

I'm going to experiment with staggering my lay bets.

After a few more £5 backs and lays, a £2 back and lay and hedging the profit, I was all green for a guaranteed profit of £1.14 after comission.

This was a little over my 3% daily target of £1.10.

Here is my betfair P&L for tonight (Monday 19th Jan)

The game ended up 1 all. Tomorrows target is £1.14. I'm giving blood too!
Do something amazing.

Another 3% in the bag

I didn't bother trading yesterday. After a long day at work, I fell asleep watching the snooker.

Tonight, I traded the match between Lille and Rennes, in the over/under 2.5 goals market.

Nothing spectacular happened, unlike the other night. I just used £5 stakes to back and lay, taking 4 - 5 ticks at a time. I watched the match live on TV and it didn't look like it would be a high scoring match. It ended 1-0. I ended up making a guaranteed £1.11 after comission. This has increased my bank by 3.1% to £36.83. Nice and easy - no risky bets tonight.

I know 3% doesn't sound much but increasing a bank of any size by 3% per day will double it in 24 days.

Below is my betfair P&L screenshot.

My target for tomorrow will be £1.10.
Unless I fall asleep again!

VERY lucky today!

I can't believe how lucky I was today. My target was 93p. 'Easy!' I thought, but things didn't go as planned. After winning and losing on the horses, I was £3.05 down.

I thought I'd have a try on the dogs. The prices were VERY erratic and when the price goes against you, it really can go against you. I ended up losing another £3.95 on them.

So I'm 7 quid down and the snooker starts - Ronnie O'Sullivan v Ali Carter. I managed to back and lay O'Sullivan and guarantee myself 20p no matter who won. I would have put a few more trades in but then the football started - Torquay v Wrexham.

I opened the over/under 2.5 goals market on my BetTrader software. I did everything right at first, bet high and lay low, bet high and lay low etc. After building up a profit of about £2 the inevitable happened - bet high, GOAL! Odds shoot up.

I took the loss and hedged it to create an equal loss on both teams. I started again. Bet high, lay low, bet high,.....you can guess what happened next - another goal.

After a couple more trades which reduced my loss, I did a very rash and stupid thing. I bet £20 @ 1.88 and left it. My liability was £23.24 if another goal was scored.

This would have wiped out all but 83p of my bank! It was literally all or nothing. To cover a last minute goal I also put a lay bet in for £23.24 @ 1.10.

Then I turned off the TV, went upstairs and did some ironing.

I came back downstairs and to my relief, the game ended 1-1. Phew!!!

Looking back at my betfair P&L report, I found out I placed my last £20 back bet at 20:32 and my £23.24 lay bet was placed at 21:08 and matched at 21:37 - probably in the dying seconds of the game.

This meant my entire bank was at risk for over an hour. This was gambling NOT trading.

I ended up being in profit by £4.65. This is an increase of 14.96%.

Below is my betfair P&L. I've also circled my last back and lay bets, just to show how lucky I was. There is another page with the rest of my lay bets on but I only captured the first one.

I'm back at work tomorrow but if I trade, my next target will be £1.07.

Thursday, 15 January 2009

Back to winning

Today I was in a positive frame of mind. After losing £5.70 yesterday, I was determined not to have another losing day. Things didn't go as planned though. In the first race today, I lost £2.95. One thing I have learned is to try and put losing trades behind you and carry on being positive, so that's what I did. In the other 8 races I traded in, I made a profit in all of them. In total, I made a profit of £1.52 on the race meetings.

After the racing, I also traded on the snooker. I backed John Higgins in his game against Ding Junhui. After an impressive start, his odds dropped and I managed to hedge the bet to guarantee a £2.01 profit no matter who won.

This brought my daily profit to £3.53. This is an increase of 12.8%. Below is my betfair P&L.

My betfair balance is now £31.07. I'm going to try and keep it over £30. My 3% target for tomorrow is 93p. The past couple of days have taught me that one losing day isn't the end of the world.

Onwards and upwards.

Wednesday, 14 January 2009

Losing day GRRRR!!!!

Today I had another losing day. Luckily, this one didn't wipe out my entire bank, like it did the other week. I only lost £5.70, which was 17.15% of my bank. Looking on the bright side, I didn't let my losses run like I have done in the past, but I was greedy in my trading. I had the chance to make small profits, but tried to steal that couple of extra ticks and got burned! Deja vu.

I traded on the snooker and football. On the football, I traded on the match odds and the over/under 2.5 goals markets. I lost on all of them. A few months back, I would have lost my entire bank due to silly bets, but today I have taken my loss, knowing that tomorrow is another day.

Here is my betfair screenshot for today.

My betfair account is now back to £27.54. My 3% target for tomorrow is 83p.
Wish me luck. I need it!

Tuesday, 13 January 2009

Still going

Today, I traded on a few race meetings and the snooker. I ended up making £1.86, which was 5.9% of my bank. I am starting to feel more confident when opening trades, and I'm not letting my losses run. I cut my losses short rather than hoped the price went my way, which gave me opportunities to decrease the loss and even make a profit. I'm also using the right click stop loss to aid my discipline. The stop loss is one of the many tool available with Bet Trader Pro.

Below is my screenshot.

Please ignore the £1.02 which I've circled. This is from yesterday but the bet was settled after midnight. My target for tomorrow according to my calculations is 99.72 pence. I think I'll call it £1.00.

Snooker Loopy!

I love snooker. Not only is it a great game, but it also produces excellent trading opportunities. Tonight, I traded the Selby v Walden match. I layed Selby for £20 @ 1.42. About 30 seconds later, I backed Selby for £18.93 @ 1.50. This guaranteed me a profit of £1.07 no matter who won. This left me a net profit if £1.02 after comission, easily overtaking my 3% daily target.

The bets were submitted using Bet Trader Pro, available for free from www.racingtraders.com.
This software worked out and submitted my hedged bet with just 1 click of the mouse.

Below is my screenshot for tonight (Monday 12th Jan)

This was taken after midnight, hence the P&L is "From Yesterday".
Tomorrow's target is 94p.

Game on.

Plodding on

After a long day at work, I wasn't in a trading mood tonight. My plan was to make my 3% for the day and then stop. I traded on the Hankey v O'Shea darts final and made 87p. A quick trade on the Bordeaux v Paris Saint-Germain under/over 2.5 goals market got me another 10p and took my daily profit up to 3.3%. Below is the screenshot.

My betfair bank now stands at £30.36. My target for tomorrow is 91p.

Saturday, 10 January 2009

Another Green Day

I only traded on 2 markets today. My 3% target was 85p, I managed to win £1.05, which has increased my bank by 3.7% to £29.39.

I managed to trade the end of the Stoke v Liverpool game and the beginning of Inter v Cagliari, both on the over/under 2.5 goals market.

Here is todays Betfair P&L.

I only traded the Inter v Cagliari game to take my daily winnings over the £1 mark.
Tomorrow's target is 88p.
Slowly does it!

Right on target!

After a long day at work, I wasn't really in the mood for trading tonight. I switched on the TV and started watching the darts. Of course, I soon got the laptop out and logged on to see if I could trade this match and make my 3% target for the day. I quite easily made £1.09 on the Walton v Hankey match. That was more than my 3% but then I looked elsewhere once that match had finished.

The Reading v Watford game was soon starting. I opened up the over/under 2.5 goals market and put in my trade. After getting a 1 tick profit and securing myself a whopping 5p profit, I remembered the events from 3 days ago when lost my entire bank. Realising I was tired and liable to make silly mistakes, I congratulated myself on beating my 3% target for the day - I got 4.19% - and logged off. I must be getting wiser! Anyway, here is my betfair P&L.

You will notice I have underlined my profit in green and not red. This is purely psychological. As a trader, I aim to "green up" to guarantee a profit, therefore any profit I show in the future will be underlined in green. If I have a losing day, I will use red.

My betfair bank now stands at £28.34, therefore my 3% target for tomorrow is 85p.

Thursday, 8 January 2009

Still doing well

I had another good day today. I started off by winning £2.58 on the horses. In the tennis, I locked in a guaranteed profit of £1.35 before a ball had been hit! A quick 76p win on the darts made a grand total of £4.69. This is an increase of 20.84%. I was only after 3% but as I was having a good day, I carried on. Below is my betfair P&L.

My bank now stands at £27.20. My target for tomorrow is 82p.

As promised, here is my screenshot of Wednesday's profit.

Cheers,
Chris.

Let's try again

After a disastrous day yesterday, I thought I would give it a another try. Hopefully, I'm a wiser (but poorer) man. I had a bit of good luck today too. I use Bet Trader Pro software to submit my bets and today I won a years subscription to Bet Trader Pro's ladder interface worth £150 !

I won this on the online radio station WUBT at http://www.juicestorm.com/

Considering this to be a good omen, I put £20 into my Betfair account. I traded the Derby v Man Utd game on the over/under 2.5 goals market and won £1.83. This is an increase of 8.85%.

I would post a screenshot of my Betfair P&L but I'm having trouble uploading the photo. I'll post it tomorrow.

If you want to know more about Bet Trader Pro then visit www.racingtraders.com .

The software is FREE to download and use the grid interface. You only have to pay to use the ladder interface. There are also lots of trading videos on the site. Why not have a look? Go to www.racingtraders.com .

My Betfair account now has £22.51 in it. My target for tomorrow is 67p. That will be 3% of my bank. Wish me luck.

Gutted!

The title says it all. All I had to do today was win £3.25 to increase my bank by 3%. Instead I LOST £107.75 !!! That leaves a grand total of 68p in my Betfair account. Gutted.

Yesterday I had a bit of success on the over/under 2.5 goals market. I gave it another try today. In the first match I backed under for £50. I only wanted a few ticks profit. The match went into play, I nipped upstairs for 2 minutes, came down, goal after 3 minutes!!! I layed off half of my liability and scalped till I was all red for £16. Banged in another back bet and BANG!!! 1-1 seconds later. Ended up losing £26. Not a disaster. If I can make £5.20 from the next 5 matches I'll be back to scratch.

In the second match I was all green for around £7.20. Things were going well. I tried 1 trade too many. 2 goals in the space of 4 minutes had me panicing. I tried to get things back in order but ended up losing £35 on that game, which incidentally ended up 1-1. Should have left it as it was!

In the third game, slightly peeved, I was all green for £2.60. I backed unders again, and you've guessed it - market suspended - 1-0 after 14 minutes. After the market settled down, I backed unders again at the higher odds, increasing my average odds when 2 minutes later - 1-1!!! In disgust, I backed my last £9 on unders at 15.0 and turned off the laptop. After I had calmed down, I went back online to check what the score was - market CLOSED! 2-1 after 26 minutes.

Bye Bye £107. Below, unfortunately, is my P&L, or should I say L!

This is NOT the end of my blog. Today I learned a valuable and expensive lesson. I will be back, maybe tomorrow, next week, even tonight! It's 18:20 and I'm hungry. Time for some tea.

See you soon.

Another good day and another market to trade

Today's profit was £4.61. An increase of over 3%. There was only 1 race meeting on today - Lingfield, but I managed to make £3.63 from that. I also tried trading on the darts and made the grand total of 54p! It all adds up though.

I thought I would trade on the Blyth Spartans v Blackburn game. I backed Blyth for £5 at 18.5, hoping to lay them off for a small profit. I could've made around £1 profit when the odds went down to 15.5 but I held on for more - BIG mistake! The odds never went lower than that and when Blackburn scored, I layed for a loss of £4.88. I did, however, still profit from this match. I traded on the over/under 2.5 goals market making £5.32, giving me a profit of 44p on the game. Again, 44p doesn't sound much, but the main thing is I protected my bank.

Tomorrow I'll try the over/under 2.5 goals market. There are 6 matches in play altogether. I'll probably divide my stake between all the matches, backing under 2.5 goals and lay them off after 10 - 15 minutes for a small profit. If there is an early goal in one of the games then It's not like I've got my whole bank on it. If there is an early goal in all of them, then I'll consider myself VERY unlucky! Here is today's profit & loss.

Thanks to Scott Ferguson for suggesting the over/under 2.5 goals market. It is one of the most obvious trend markets on Betfair.

Going in the right direction

I didn't bother with any trading yesterday, and only traded 4 markets today but still made a profit of £3.62. This is just over 3% of my bank. If I continue to make 3% a day for 24 days, my bank will double. As long as I keep going in the right direction, Im happy. As Abraham Lincoln said "I walk slowly but I never walk backwards".

Here is a screenshot of today's P&L.

You may notice, the time period is from yesterday to today, just to show I didn't trade yesterday. This is a "warts n' all" blog. Any losses will be put on here for all to see. Hopefully this will improve my trading discipline.

Onwards and Upwards.

Back in Profit - YES!

Another successful day today. I only managed to trade on 3 of the evening races because of work but made a small profit of £3.79. I also traded on the Spurs v Wigan game and made £4.59 on that, bringing today's total profit to £8.38 ! Not a fortune, I agree but think percentages.

I am back in profit to the tune of 20p. Not bad to say that a couple of days ago I lost 20 quid. I'm back over the £100 mark and I intend to stay this side of it from now on.

Below is a screenshot of today's trading.

Very satisfied with today :-)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

After yesterday's pitiful attempt at trading, I approached today with a little more caution. I took losses and scratched instead of letting my losses get out of hand and ended up winning £10.18.

I only traded on 7 markets but ended up in profit on all of them, as you can see below.

My balance is now £91.82, still £8.18 down from my original £100 but a turn in the right direction. Hope it keeps up.

Back in work for the next 3 days (BOO!!) so I'll probably not be trading, unless I have a go on the football - Spurs v Wigan is on Setanta tomorrow night. At the moment, the draw is 3.7 and Spurs are odds on at 1.87 to win. Don't know whether to lay the draw and wait for a goal or lay Spurs and hope to grab a few ticks. If I lay the draw and Wigan score first, the odds will hardly change.

Maybe back tomorrow.
